Ready to expand your consciousness by facing the Shadow?

ENCOUNTERS WITH THE SHADOW:
Introduction to Jungian Shadow Work

A 4-class course that will give you an in-depth understanding of Jung’s concept of the Shadow along with guidance and tools to help you bring awareness to your unconscious world, heal your wounds, and unlock your gifts.

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
– Carl Jung

Have you ever wondered why certain patterns and stories seem to keep repeating in your life?

Maybe you’ve heard yourself saying things like…

“All my relationships turn out the same way.”

“People are always letting me down!”

“I keep having this experience over and over again…”

If so, there may be a common denominator worth looking at… and it will likely be found in the Shadow.

The concept of the Shadow was originated by Carl Jung, who called it: “That which I do not wish to be.”

Whether we’re conscious of it or not, when we deny, repress, suppress, disown, or hide parts of us that do not neatly fit in with who we believe ourselves to be, they inevitably burst forth unconsciously.

But when we are able to bring awareness to our Shadow aspects, we can accept our complexity and live out the full richness of the human experience.

Like a dragon guarding its treasure, the Shadow is hiding so much gold… if we’re bold enough to face it.

A cornerstone of Jungian psychology, exploring the Shadow is the first step in what Jung calls “individuation,” the process of becoming more whole and aligned with our purpose.

According to Jung, individuation is the purpose of all inner work… to become the fully realized self that fills in our part of the mosaic of humanity.

While Shadow Work is more popular than ever, many are missing core knowledge of this rich, complex aspect of the human psyche.

Led by master teacher James Hollis, Encounters With The Shadow offers a rare opportunity for both beginner and advanced students to delve deeply into this essential concept that informs all other Jungian work.

THIS COURSE IS PERFECT FOR YOU IF…

  • You’re ready to begin an in-depth exploration of Jungian work in a thoughtful, expert-led course structure

INSIDE THE COURSE

What is the Shadow, and how does it manifest in everyday life? How does it affect our relationships with ourselves and others? Where does it show up on the larger stages of the human experience, like religion, politics, and even national identity? And most importantly, how can we lift our own Shadows into awareness?

All of these fascinating topics and more will be covered in 4 hour-long sessions.

Classes are provided as video or audio recordings that you can access at any time through The Jung Platform.

Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll explore:

Class 1:  Introduction to the Shadow

In this engaging introduction to the course, learn how Jung defines the Shadow and how it fits into the structure of the psyche. Explore how the Shadow forms and unconsciously motivates so many of our behaviors. Uncover how the Personal Shadow is reflected on a larger scale as the Collective Shadow.

Class 2:  The Shadow in Relationships

If you were to become more aware of Shadow aspects in yourself, how would that change how you relate to others? Explore how we experience our Shadow in our relationships through the concepts of projection and transference. Discover how to unburden yourself from past patterns by becoming more conscious of the hidden agenda of your Shadow.

Class 3:  The Shadow in Western Religions

How is humanity’s need to understand the cosmos connected to the Shadow? Examine the Shadow aspects that show up in Western religions as our egos seek to define the undefinable. Delve into the relationship between morality and the Shadow, as well as Jung’s surprising definition of God.

Class 4:  Personalizing The Shadow

It’s time to take your intellectual understanding of the Shadow and make it experiential. Encountering the Shadow is, at heart, humbling work. Explore exercises designed to bring awareness to your own Shadow aspects, and learn from a Q&A session between master teacher James Hollis and students of the course.

Awaken your awareness through the mysteries of the Shadow.
