In this certification program, you develop a unique way of reading the Tarot. This way is both deep and sets you apart from the many Tarot readers out there. This certification program will deepen your own readings, help you start a Tarot practice, or add this as an offering to your existing healing modalities.

This mythic way of approaching the Tarot is helpful for both you as the reader and for the querent. You begin to see which myth is at play, and from there you can describe what someone is encountering, what may be ahead, and how to relate to it. Understanding where someone is in their mythic journey is deeply meaningful for the querent.

This way of reading does not rely heavily on memorizing all the cards and their symbols. Instead, it offers a coherent structure that supports your reading and makes the process more engaging and deeper.

Reading the myths of a person is deeply Jungian, as archetypes express themselves through myth.

You will have the privilege of being taught by Juliet Sharman-Burke, a pioneer of modern Tarot with over forty years of experience. She is also a depth therapist and has written ten books on the subject. She was among the first to develop her own Tarot deck.

You will be part of a community of like-minded people, and be paired between classes to practice and develop your skills.

Why Tarot reading on Jung Platform?

Analytical Psychology, the psychological discipline founded by C.G. Jung has always drawn upon a wide range of resources to help people enrich their lives both in the world and within themselves. Myth, religion, divinatory systems, art, culture, social sciences, physical sciences, philosophy, music, and dance are among the domains explored by those interested in the soul’s life as understood by Analytical Psychology. 


The Tarot, a system of divination with a long tradition, utilizes rich esoteric symbolism which can be employed to depict human psychological states and better understand them. Each card has almost countless interpretations. When placed in combination with other cards in arrays known as spreads, the Tarot can be used to guide the sincere seeker to attain insight and guidance about many life circumstances. 

Although there are many Tarot decks available for use, in this program we will use the two decks developed by Juliet Sharman-Burke. Namely The (New) Mythic Tarot and the Sharman-Caselli deck. These decks display the mythic journey very well.

Next that that this most pragmatic is that this will allow a significant amount of sharing of interpretations, as well as opportunities for program participants to read for each other. Having a common deck as a reference facilitates discussion and sharing of amplifications of interpretations, thus deepening our relationship to the dimensions of the psyche which the Tarot symbolizes.

Program overview

OUR SEPTEMBER 2026 COHORT IS SOLD OUT. 

Class 1: Welcome and Major Arcana, Part One

Purpose: Orientation and containment
• Historical development of the Tarot: 
    *brief overview starting with earliest cards (1450) to modern decks.
    *using ancient memory systems techniques to read the imagery. 
• Introduction to the Sharman-Caselli deck
• Introduction to The New Mythic Tarot
• Why myth matters in Tarot reading

Teaching focus:
• Introduction to the Fool’s journey
   *Jung’s concept of individuation – we are divided, what we want to experience is being un-divided 
   *how do Archetypes and myths relate
• Ten Major Arcana cards introduced

Practice and homework:
• Students work only with these ten cards
• Assigned reading partner - this can help students with practise between sessions
• Use guided meditations/active imagination to get to know the cards

Class 2: Major Arcana, Part Two

Purpose: Completing the life arc
• Remaining Major Arcana cards
• The full journey from Fool to World
• Developmental stages and life themes

Practice focus:
• First introduction to a Seven card spread using Major Arcana only
• Use guided meditations/active imagination to get to know the cards

Students now have a complete map and a basic reading container.

Class 3: The Seven-Card Spread using only Major Arcana

Purpose: Reading as a skill, not knowledge
• How to ask a question
• How cards relate to one another
• Beginning, middle, outcome
• Listening to the story rather than naming meanings

Major portion of the class is devoted to practice.

Class 4: Minor Arcana and the Four Elements, Part One

Purpose: Energetic literacy
• Introducing the elements Fire, Water, Air, Earth which correspond with Jung’s typology : Intuition, Feeling, Thinking, Sensation
• Elements as lived experience
• Introduction to the Suit cards : Wands and Cups using element, number and myth
• Introduction to numbers through the elements

Practice:
• Reading elemental patterns in simple spreads

Class 5: Minor Arcana and the Four Elements, Part Two

Purpose: Fluency, not memorization
• Remaining suits of Swords and Pentacles presented using element, number and myth
• Deepening number and element combinations
• Minor Arcana as daily life patterns
• Introduction to Celtic Cross spread using Minor Arcana only

Practice-heavy class.

Class 6: Court Cards as Living Characters, Part One

• Introduction to the Court Cards King, Queen,Knight, Page 
• Wands and Cups by their element, astrological connection and myth 
• Understanding the Court Cards by their element, astrological connection and myth 
• Identifying Court Cards in oneself and others

Practice:
• Identifying courts in oneself and others

Class 7: Court Cards as Living Characters, Part Two

Purpose: Integration and confidence
• Swords and Pentacles by their element, astrological connection and myth 
• Court Cards in relationship spreads
• Court Cards as dynamics, not personalities
• Avoiding stereotypes

Practise using Celtic Cross with Court Cards and Minor Arcana only

Class 8: Putting It All Together

Purpose: Reading responsibly
• Ethics of Tarot reading
• Introduction to the simple 3 card spread while encouraging students to experiment with whatever feels appropriate for them
• Practise readings using Seven Card with Majors, Celtic Cross with Minors and Horseshoe Spread with Full Deck
• Holding the reading space
• Readings and projection
• Basic counselling techniques and how to set up a practice
• Supervised practise and feedback with students bringing their own readings for clients, friends or themselves for supervision

Class 9: Integration and Completion

Purpose: Initiation into practice
• Student readings in class using all spreads
• Each student gives a short presentation
• Integration of learning
• Closing the circle

Juliet Sharman-Burke

Juliet Sharman-Burke has been teaching and practising Tarot and astrology for over forty years. A qualified analytic psychotherapist with a private practice in London.

She is the author of ten books on Tarot, including The Complete Book of Tarot, The Mythic Tarot Workbook, and Mastering the Tarot.

She also co-designed the Sharman-Caselli Tarot deck with artist Giovanni Caselli, one of the decks used in this program.

What is the mythic tarot approach?

Most Tarot readers learn the cards one by one. They memorize meanings, symbols, and traditional interpretations. The Mythic Tarot approach is different. Rather than memorising, you learn to read the living story. Every person is in the middle of a mythic journey, a pattern that has been told and retold across cultures for thousands of years. The Mythic Tarot reader learns to recognize which myth is active in someone's life, what stage of the journey they are in, and what may lie ahead. This gives readings a depth and coherence that goes far beyond card-by-card interpretation.

There are many Tarot courses available online. What makes this one different is the teacher, the framework, and the depth. Juliet Sharman-Burke is one of the world's most respected Tarot teachers, a depth therapist who has spent four decades developing a mythologically grounded approach to reading. What is the difference between the Mythic Tarot Reader Program and a regular Tarot certification?

Most Tarot certifications focus on memorizing card meanings and standard spreads. The Mythic Tarot Reader Certificate Program takes a fundamentally different approach, rooted in Jungian psychology and the idea that every person is living out a mythological pattern. Rather than learning seventy-eight isolated meanings, you learn to read the Major Arcana as the Fool's mythic journey, the Minor Arcana through the four elements and Jung's psychological functions, and the Court Cards as living psychological dynamics. This gives readings a coherence and depth that card-by-card memorization cannot offer.


Do I need any background in Jungian psychology (or astrology) to join?

No prior background in Jungian psychology, mythology, or astrology is required. The program is designed to teach you everything you need as you go, building from the Major Arcana in the first modules to the more complex elemental and astrological associations of the Minor and Court Cards later in the program. What matters most is genuine curiosity about myth, symbol, and the human psyche.

What Tarot decks will I use in this program?

This program uses two decks developed by Juliet Sharman-Burke: The Mythic Tarot and the Sharman-Caselli Tarot. Both decks are specifically designed to illustrate the mythic and archetypal journey at the heart of this program's approach. Using a shared deck across the cohort also makes it easier for participants to discuss interpretations, share readings, and learn from one another throughout the program.


How is this program different from other Tarot courses?

While several Tarot courses reference Jungian psychology, this program is taught directly by Juliet Sharman-Burke, who has spent over forty years developing a mythologically grounded approach to Tarot and co-created one of the decks used worldwide for this method.
