Find the story that is unfolding in you and live a mythic life!
The visionary storyteller Michael Meade begins by taking us to a mythological place before birth- a gathering place where souls are assigned their life’s mission before entering the world. Our physical birth- the way we come into the world- reveals much about our personal myth.
We are all wounded, and each of us has a life companion- our genius– who resides close to these wounds. Our wounds reveal more about our genius and our myth. Meade will provide various perspectives and exercises to help us see how our life’s myth is unfolding and how we can connect with it to live a mythic life.
This course includes additional questions from the Jung Platform team to help you explore your personal myth in greater depth.

Course Description
Living a mythic life is being connected to your own life story. What is the reason that you are alive? How to imagine your wounds? How can you give your gift to the world?
In this hands-on course you will gain beautiful mythic perspectives, and practical exercises to get a sense of or deepen your personal myth. Each of the 13 segments has a question to reflect on, guiding you on this journey.
Tribal stories, spiritual traditions, and mythologies all around the world have all sought to answer these questions. The oldest and most widespread mythology tells us that we are given a fate before we come into this world. To fulfill that fate, a companion accompanies us into the world. This companion—our spirit guide, daimon, or genius—continually tries to guide us toward our fate, even when we have lost touch with it. Meade takes us on a mythical journey that will help to reveal some of the threads of our personal mythology. According to the myths, this journey starts before our birth.
He looks at birth as a mythological event, showing how we can learn more from our physical birth about our own mythology. Each birth is a unique act of creation, mirroring the birth of the world itself. This story, rich with symbols and meanings, is woven into the fabric of our personal mythology. It’s a story that doesn’t end with the first breath; it’s one that we can return to throughout life, especially in moments of challenge and transformation.
Each class has Meade’s questions along with questions from the Jung Platform team to help you deeply engage with your personal myth!

Course Overview
Class 1. The Task of Tasks
We all have a personal myth or an inner story that has been trying to unfold in the world ever since our birth, and even before that. Meade discusses how each of us has a muse or a genius. When we are connected to the muse, we also experience our myth. As Carl Jung said, “To discover my myth was my task of tasks.”
Class 2. The Forgotten Story of The World
Michael tells the story of Er, describing how souls live together before they are born into this world. This marks the starting point of a personal mythology, as the soul enters the world with a purpose and an intent to live out a story and a mythology.
Class 3. The Final Part of the Myth of Er
Michael concludes the myth of Er , revealing that every person is born as a unique soul, carrying both fate and destiny, accompanied by a genius companion. This companion, who understands the soul’s true life purpose, often fades from memory, leaving many unaware of their deeper calling. The genius continually tries to guide us toward our fate, even when we have lost touch with it.
Class 4. Your Individual Birth as Your Myth
Michael moves us from the mythological expanse of the soul before birth to the profound moment when an individual soul enters the world. He invites us to see birth not just as a biological event, but as a mythological happening. In this view, each birth is a unique act of creation, mirroring the birth of the world itself. This story, rich with symbols and meanings, is woven into the fabric of our personal mythology.
Class 5: Birth Story as a Mythological Event
We dive into the mythic depths of our own beginnings, exploring how our birth stories are not mere historical facts but profound mythological narratives that shape our lives.Through reflective practices like family conversations, dream analysis, and personal writing, we uncover how these foundational events continue to influence our identity, challenges, and life’s journey.
Class 6: Calling
In this segment, we explore what it means to live amidst the forgetfulness and oblivion that characterizes much of modern life. As we navigate a world filled with distractions and an overwhelming sense of fragmentation, we’re called to awaken to a deeper understanding of our personal narratives. Rather than seeking external validation or success, the true calling is to reconnect with the inner world of gifts, talents, and wounds that form the unique tapestry of our soul.
Class 7: More Birth Stories as Myth
In this segment Michael explores more birth stories as myth. He answers questions about multiple callings, problems in giving birth, unwanted children and more. He also explores how to become a disciple of the call, and how the genius in each of us leads to real diversity.
Class 8: Fate & Calling
How does fate influence our calling? How does our birth influence and reveal some of our callings? These Fascinating questions are engaged in this segment. Our family, our body and our illnesses can all be manifestations of our fate.
Class 9: You Found Your Genius
The old idea is that the gifts reside next to the wounds. Two of the deepest things in the individual human soul are the natural giftedness and the inevitable wounding of the individual.
Class 10: Serving the World
Our gift is meant to be given to our community. When we do that, our gift brings healing to our community in some form, and we feel fulfilled as our gift finds its destination.
Class 11: The Necessity of Obstacles
The path of genius- of living your own myth- is one in which we encounter both darkness and light. There is no myth without obstacles. Each step on the path is an initiation into a deeper knowledge about ourselves and the world. Meade explores the nature of obstacles on the way and looks at some manifestations of them, such as being rejected by our mentor, being frozen on the path, identifying with an archetype and losing our myth.
Class 12: Breakdown & Calling
Meade discusses how creativity and chaos are intertwined, and how the creative journey involves anguish and a confrontation with the darkness of life. Any path also leads us to connect with the deep Self, the center within us and the center of the world. That center remains unfazed by any breakdown and can support us no matter where we are on the path.
Class 13: Each Person is Unique
Michael concludes this journey of connecting with your own personal myth with the notion that each person is unique. Our life will never be repeated and we all have our own unique genius. Michael ends with a poem.
By the end of this course, you will be able to

- See how it is possible to stay connected to your mythic path amidst life's difficulties.
- Become thoughtful about your unique genius and whether you are living your unique calling.
