Course Description

Dive into the rich, layered symbolism of the Major Arcana. This course is designed for tarot enthusiasts, artists, spiritual seekers, and anyone looking to expand their understanding of the symbolic language of the tarot. Focusing on the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, this course offers a thorough exploration of the possible symbolic meanings behind the cards’ images.

Participants will examine each card’s visual elements, from color and posture to objects, animals, and expressions. We will uncover how these details reflect archetypal energies, psychological themes, and spiritual messages. The historical and cultural roots of the imagery and how interpretations have evolved over time will also be explored.

Whether you are looking to enrich your tarot readings, inspire creative projects, or deepen your understanding of symbolic language, this course provides a solid foundation. No prior experience is necessary–only curiosity and a desire to see beyond the surface. By the end, you’ll not only gain a better understanding of what each Major Arcana’s symbolism means, but you’ll also deepen your relationship to the cards and enhance your readings.

Teacher Lionel Corbett will offer comparative analysis of how the symbolism differs or aligns between the two historic decks known as the Tarot de Marseille and the esoteric Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Both systems are rich with symbolic and numerological meaning. In turn, each deck has been shaped by the spirit of its time and presents a unique perspective on the mysteries encoded in the Tarot.

This course is ideal if

  • You want to deepen your understanding of individuation and archetypes in the Tarot
  • You are keen to learn more about archetypal human experiences
  • You want to become a better tarot reader
