Dennis opens by inviting us to the double journey of creating ourselves as we converse with the world. As we move inward and outward, back and forth, we create a symbolic field where something new and unique can arise. To create something original we must cross a threshold into the field of the unknown.
As he portrays the liminal space of not-knowing, Dennis evokes a place where we can be influenced. A place where things come together in ways that maybe you never thought about before.
We learn that deep creativity is healing. It is an answering of the innermost call of what sustains us and wants to be brought into the world. Dennis encourages us to pay attention to the music we love, the scenery that moves us, what arouses joy in us. He inspires us to catch the spark and find the flint that lights our own fire.
A few contributions from participants are included as examples of the creative unfolding Dennis is describing.
Dennis also presents his principles of deep creativity. To name just a few, we learn that creativity is idiosyncratic, receptive, embodied and emotional.
Lastly, he briefly touches on our hunger to leave a mark, our hunger for connection and our hunger to take a risk for something bigger.
A special bonus handout “Invitation to Leave a Legacy” is included in which Dennis offers a skeleton key to writing about your life.
Answer the call to creativity. Yield to something deeper and wider than who you think you are. You and the world will be better for it.

Class 1. Unfold Your Myth
In this class Dennis invites us into an imaginal space. He encourages us to discover how any form of making, be it reading, writing, sculpting, writing, cooking, gardening or cross stitching can be a place of conversation between our deeper self and the world. Dennis discusses Jung’s view of the power of analogy. Jung affirmed that the psyche´s fundamental nature is to create relationships between unlikely things by finding what makes them alike. This is the symbolic field where creativity takes place.
Class 2. The Creative Pilgrimage
Meaning is created, and creating meaning in our lives is an act of creativity as much as painting or playing an instrument. In this class Dennis offers questions to help us create sense out of yesterday. He reminds us that creativity is an attitude, a desire and a sense of anticipation. He asks us to consider what we need to let go of to make room for something new.
Class 3. Principles of Deep Creativity
In this class Dennis presents his distillations of the essence of creativity. Some characteristics of creativity are that it is chemical, responsive, autonomous, embodied and joyful.
Class 4. Creativity’s Hunger
Dennis shares the story of how a wild goat that came to visit served as an inspiration for his wife. He shares how creativity drives and satisfies many of our hungers.
