Get Started

Become a Jungian Coach and learn to facilitate coaching sessions with clients or co-workers

In this comprehensive certificate program, you will acquire skills and tools that you can implement in coaching others in their personal and professional development. The experiential program combines theory with practice and aims at integrating Jungian theory with the personal experiences of the coaching practitioner.

In addition, this transformational program will facilitate recognizing how the psyche calls on you to become who you truly are. Establishing this meaningful connection with the psyche is key for both the coach and the client.

The purpose of this coaching program is to cultivate and broaden a practitioner’s consciousness, to communicate openly, listen actively, develop and maintain rapport, inspire, and motivate others to achieve their goals.

At the end of this program, you will be able to facilitate coaching sessions and help people maximize their potential. Successful candidates are also eligible for accreditation as Jungian Coach.

What is Jungian Coaching?

Jungian coaching requires similar coaching competencies and skills as other types of coaching. The difference in Jungian coaching is the perspective through which coaching takes place.

Jungian Coaching puts the psyche/soul’s desires at the heart of its coaching. We come into this world with unique tendencies and have an innate drive for individuation, what Jung called the process of psychological growth and becoming whole. As a result of this type of coaching, clients feel reconnected to their life’s purpose; this renewed connection has a long-term transformative effect on their wellbeing and performance.

In this program, you will learn to honor the individuation process and work with it in coaching. You will be able to recognize, acknowledge, and tend to the innate longings of the other. You will gain tools to work with images and active imagination, dreams, synchronicities, symbols, mythology, the unconscious, and the body. During the program, you will become familiar with important Jungian concepts.

At the end of this program, you will be able to handle interpersonal dynamics, work with projections, transference, and countertransference that can rise in conversations. This brings you a greater sense of freedom in your interactions with others, and not just your coaching.

Jungian coaching is effective because it has ongoing and long-term effects, as in the course of the coaching, clients are provided with the means to tend to the unfolding of their individuation process.

DAY 1

On the first day, the group members of this program meet each other. This first day is an opportunity for cultivating interpersonal connections, and exploration of psychological intimacy in a coaching setting. It includes several coaching exercises.

Module 1

2

Topic:

Intro to coaching & the wounded healer

10 am ET - 3 pm ET

In this first module, we will lay a foundation for the coaching process. Jungian Coaching honors the individuation process.  We focus our attention on the relationship of the client’s ego with their Self. Meanwhile we are attuned to the client as well as to ourselves.

Carl Jung has emphasized that reflection upon a professional’s own hurt ‘gives the measure of the power to heal’. With this in mind, we will explore the archetype of the Wounded Healer throughout this training. You will gain an understanding of how your wounding and adaptive behavioral patterns affect the professional relationships you have with others. Other topics that are part of this module: The competencies of a coach, and conducting an intake in the coaching process.

Topics:

  • Introduction to Jungian coaching
  • Coaching and individuation: moving towards wholeness
  • Coaching basics: building rapport, being present, open attitude
  • Core competencies of the coach
  • Archetype of a wounded healer

Personal and professional development both require shadow work. Shadow is that part of our being that is  threatening to our ego, and which often acts independently of our will. Shadow work is an important part of this certificate program.

Module 2

3

Topic:

Shadow work in coaching

10 am ET - 3 pm ET

To make sure your coaching fits with your client’s values, needs, and their individuation process, you need to know how the psyche communicates through images, symbols, and symptom formation. For transformation to occur, we need to connect with our bodies. This module will also focus on body work, and relate to the body as our soul friend when we are coaching.

Topics:

  • Shadow work for client and coach
  • Body as a soul friend
  • Language of the psyche: symbols (and symptom formation)
  • Professionalism in your coaching practice

Module 3

4

Topic:

The deeper currents running through life

10 am ET - 3 pm ET

This third module has a focus on the deeper motivations in our own lives as well as those of our clients. For instance, when do complexes run the course of our lives? When are we driven by compensation? How do our fundamental beliefs co-create the world around us? Which archetypal patterns run our lives? These are some of the questions dealt with in this module.

To get a sense of what drives us in our lives, we will also look at fairytales and mythology and how they have the potential to deepen the understanding of ourselves and others.

In this practical module, the focus is on recognition, acknowledgment, and tending to these deeper dynamics in the coaching sessions with clients or co-workers.

Topics:

  • The relevance and applicability of mythological themes to the individuation process and its challenges.
  • Reflection on the implications of mythological narratives for personal development and decision-making.
  • Deeper dynamics between the coach and client

Module 4

5

Topic:

Working with images and dreams

10 am ET - 3 pm ET

This fourth module on images and dreams is about the acknowledgement of the individuation process, how this affects our coaching, the way we structure the coaching sessions, and how it impacts the role of the Jungian coach.

Specific to Jungian Coaching is its focus on images, stories and dreams. This module will make clear how to incorporate dream work in coaching. By paying attention to dreams and engaging in a respectful dialogue with the unconscious, individuals strengthen their connection with the Self. Dream work can help align conscious intentions with the deeper and transcendent aspect of the psyche.

Topics:

  • Apply dreamwork in coaching
  • Symbolic reading of life
  • Tuning into the expressions of the Self
  • Finding guidance

Module 5

6

Topic:

Transformation process

10 am ET - 3 pm ET

In this last module, we will look at the existential life themes that are part of each coaching session—both implicit and explicit. We will explore how existential matters including life and death, the meaning of life, and call and purpose, impact the way we approach our coaching questions.

In this last module, you will gain a sense of how to navigate life’s ongoing transformations and the transpersonal work deriving from them. This increases the understanding of our role and task in coaching and working with clients as Jungian coaches.

Topics:

  • Meaning of life, call, and purpose
  • Letting go; the cycle death and re-birth
  • Ongoing transformational work for client and coach
