Tina Stromsted

Tina Stromsted, Ph.D., MFT, LPCC, BC-DMT, SEP, is a Jungian psychoanalyst, dance/somatic psychotherapist, and international educator whose work follows the psyche as it moves—through breath, sensation, image, dream, and the living body. Grounded in rigorous clinical and academic training, her teaching offers a warmly embodied, experiential approach to Jungian psychology—one that can be felt, practiced, and lived.

For more than four decades, she has taught and presented internationally in professional organizations, universities, and healing centers. She currently teaches with the C.G. JungInstitute of San Francisco, Jung Platform, and Pacifica Graduate Institute. She also co-founded the Authentic Movement Institute (California) and is Director of the Soul’s Body® Center, where she offers webinars, workshops, consultation, and community engagement in embodied Jungian practice. She was a founding faculty member of the Women’s Spirituality Program and taught inSomatic Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies(CIIS).

Dr. Stromsted serves as senior faculty with the Marion Woodman Foundation. Invited by MarionWoodman to carry forward—and thoughtfully evolve—Woodman’s teaching lineage at PacificaGraduate Institute, she asked Dr. Stromsted’s team—including Meg Wilbur and Dr. DorothyAnderson—to lead the first next-generation Leadership Training Program, based on their long collaboration and many years co-facilitating the Wellsprings of Feminine Renewal intensive programs. Alongside dedicated colleagues who have also studied and contributed to this field,Dr. Stromsted continues to teach BodySoul work and integrate it with her own Soul’s Body approach to embodied Jungian practice.

Her longstanding involvement with the International Association for Analytical Psychology(IAAP) congresses includes contributions to embodied, experiential teaching. Following extensive collaboration, analyst and dance therapist Joan Chodorow invited her to chair the teaching team for the Active Imagination in Movement Pre-Congress Days, where active imagination is practiced through movement, dreams, and the creative arts. Tina’s life and work are continually enriched by ongoing learning and collaborations with colleagues, students, and peers across cultures.

She is the author of Soul’s Body: Active Imagination, Authentic Movement & Embodiment in Psychotherapy (Routledge).
