Discover the hidden gifts and virtues in your complexes

Jung believed that understanding and working with one’s complexes was a crucial part of the individuation process. As building blocks of our personality, they reflect our inner reality and reveal areas for opportunity and growth.

While having complexes is not inherently problematic, it can become an issue when they are excessively rigid or one-sided. By bringing our complexes into consciousness and exploring their underlying themes and emotions, we can work to integrate and transform them, leading to greater psychological wholeness and well-being.

This inspiring 2 class- course is given by Mark Dean, a Jungian analyst that has been in private practice for over 30 years. He has an engaging and accessible teaching style.

Course Description

Complexes are patterns of emotions, memories, and experiences that influence our behavior and color our perceptions of the world. When we are caught in the grip of a complex, our reality begins to change, often without us even realizing it. They have the power to steer us down certain paths, creating patterns in our lives that can be difficult to break free from. By bringing these complexes into conscious awareness, we can begin to untangle their hold on us and live more freely and authentically.

In this course, Jungian Analyst Mark Dean takes us on a journey to explore the hidden realm of our unconscious minds. Through the use of case studies and fairytales, he sheds light on the mysterious nature of complexes and how they manifest in our lives.

Mark suggests that we see this work as an opportunity to soften our ego and develop greater flexibility in embracing diverse aspects of our nature. He asserts that every complex contains vital life energy that can be harnessed for our growth and personal development.

In this course, we will learn how to see the complex as an internal mythic system that informs how we live our life. Each complex has a story to tell, a moment of creation where parts of oneself were forced into polar opposition. Resolution comes when we can hold both sides of the complex with ease and acceptance. When we can meet all the parts of our being and relate to them in new ways.

Join Mark Dean for a journey into the inner world of complexes. Bridge the divide and find a new sense of wholeness.

Course Overview

Class 1: The Dynamics and Polarities of the Complex

In this class, Mark Dean introduces us to the fundamental concepts of complexes. He highlights how complexes are by and large internal structures that have a polar nature. Each side of the pole has its own beliefs, values, and ways it experiences the world. When one side of the pole has been activated, it charges our system with its point of view. This may lead to an over identification with the complex, causing an imbalance in our life.

Class 2: Possession and Integration of the Complex

In this class, Mark Dean describes how our ego may become possessed by the complex. Because the energy is unintegrated, it floods our consciousness and controls our reactions, behaviors and ways of seeing the world. To break free, it is important to get an observational point outside of the complex. Mark emphasizes how this helps us get out of the tug of war between the two poles of the complex. We can do this by examining our history and understanding what gave rise to the complex. This helps us relate to our complex and life history in new and profound ways.

By the end of this course you will

  • Gain a deeper understanding of how complexes shape your emotions, memories, and experiences.
  • Understand how to approach your complexes as opportunities for personal growth and development.
  • Develop greater flexibility and acceptance towards your complexes.
  • Discover how to harness the vital life energy within your complexes.
  • Navigate the challenging process of working with opposing forces within your complexes.
